Job Summary

The post holder will be responsible for all nursery operations and associated activities for their region.

Reporting to the Head of Nursery Operations you will work in unity with other operational, quality compliance and training teams to provide challenge and innovation to the Group’s strategy.Lead and directly manage a group of nursery managers: manage, coach and develop them development of colleagues to deliver all commercial and quality objectives the regions they are responsible for.and their teams through objectives clearly linked to the Childcare Groups strategy and Society’s Steering Wheel in order to achieve or surpass targets set. This includes contributing effectively to driving and growing sustainable revenues, managing costs and

Occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Society.



Key Responsibilities

The post holder shall:
• Ensure that all nurseries within your Business area comply with the obligations placed upon them through statutory regulations, Society and our own policies and procedures. The Early Years Foundation Stage must be fully implemented at all times to children of all ages meeting Ofsted requirements at a minimum of a good level
• Effectively safeguard all statutory compliance with EYFS and Ofsted regulations and deliver improved targeted results for Ofsted inspections through internal quality audit programmes and subsequent feedback, training and development
• Have sound knowledge of safeguarding issues and be able to confidently identify signs of possible abuse or neglect. Support managers and colleagues to respond and report if necessary, all concerns in a timely and appropriately way
• Ensure all areas requiring compliance (whether legal or Society operating requirements) are actively communicated, monitored, recorded and adhered to, with non-compliance identified in a timely manner and followed up to ensure appropriate remedial action is taken. This may require liaison with local authorities, enforcement officers and collaboration with the Society’s Health and Safety Manager, Head of Nursery Operations as appropriate
• Positively contribute to the success of all aspects of the Childcare Group as defined by the Group’s business plan, Steering Wheel, quality objectives and financial forecasts contributing to the success of Team Midcounties
• Manage, coach and develop your respective nursery managers to ensure a clear understanding of the overall business goals and for them in turn to manage their teams to meet these targets and deliver exceptional and profitable childcare. Inspire their teams to be the best that they can be for our business
• Provide effective coaching, guidance, and support in the development of direct reports to provide for excellent service levels, high performance culture and to support succession planning. Ensure the long term improvement of colleague’s skills and the learning and professional development of our workforce, identifying trends to make recommendations to drive improved results for the area
• Provide regular reports to the Head of Nursery Operations and other Senior stakeholders to aid effective management of Childcare operations, measured through structured statistical and analytical reporting including business commercial compliance and the Midcounties Steering Wheel
• Conduct regular meetings with agenda’s and minutes with direct reports in their sphere of operation.  To ensure the timely management of these meetings with all objectives presented in SMART terms i.e. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound
• In conjunction with the Head of Nursery Operations ensure that sales, occupancy and profit opportunities are maximised through effective management of occupancy costs plus all other controllable costs. Ensure accurate invoicing, debt and funding is adhered to whilst local competitor activity is monitored together with the marketing function for each nursery that you are responsible for
• Monitor the results of your area and track its attainment to budget – provide advice and support to respective nursery management teams on any shortfalls or variances
• Ensure the Co-operative difference is understood and promoted to positively foster commitment and engagement across the group enabling everyone to contribute to the Childcare Group’s performance and continuous improvement
• Work with other parts of the business to encourage co-operation
• Undertake any personal training deemed by the Society to be necessary to fulfil your role efficiently
• Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.

Qualifications:
 • Passes in English and Maths (GCSEs or A’ levels)
• NVQ3 or equivalent in Early Years.
• NVQ 4 or equivalent in Early Years or Management.
• 2 years’ experience as a nursery manager
